Introducing DA DRIVE ANALYZER

DA Drive Analyzer® is a service that monitors the health of your storage drives, predicts drive problems, and alerts you to impending drive failures. With this service, you can view a wide variety of drive health metrics gathered from S.M.A.R.T. and other health logs. And when either our AI or threshold-based system detects abnormal drive activity, the service will issue alerts so you can identify vulnerable drives and protect your data in advance.

DA Drive Analyzer 2.0 Latest Updates:

  • AI-Based Drive Failure Alerts based on advanced machine learning algorithms. Available for SATA, SCSI/SAS, and NVMe after just 1 day of health data analysis.
  • Threshold-Based Alerts such as S.M.A.R.T. trips and excessive drive and system metrics defined by experts.
  • Detailed Health Metrics from S.M.A.R.T, plus various additional drive and system logs.

WHY USE AI?

Traditional methods of detecting storage drive failure rely on monitoring when key health metrics exceed pre-defined limits, one at a time. With an AI monitoring your drive, several health metrics are taken in to account simultaneously and across time, resulting in a more nuanced determination of drive health.

SUPPORTED MODELS

DA Drive Analyzer’s AI supports most commercially available drive models (over 99%). For your reference, the following pages list drive models that have been verified as supported (non-exhaustive, and updated over time):

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS

How can I start using DA Drive Analyzer?
You can start using DA Drive Analyzer in just 3 steps.
Do I need to be connected to the internet to use DA Drive Analyzer?
DA Drive Analyzer works best with an internet connection. For optimal service, please make sure that both your drive-containing device (such as NAS or PC) and internet connection are on.
Why is DA Drive Analyzer giving me one type of alert, such as Threshold-Based Alerts, but not another, such as AI-Based Alerts?
Each alert is generated using an independent mechanism, so a drive may receive one type of alert, but not another. For example, a drive may have a particular health indicator that goes above a certain threshold once, triggering a threshold-based alert for that drive. However, the subtle pattern of that drive’s health indicators over time may be deemed by our AI as innocuous, therefore an AI alert may not be triggered for that drive.
If only the Drive Health Prediction or Symptom Radar Chart features show drive problems, but not the other, which one should I listen to?
Both the Drive Health Prediction and Symptom Radar Chart are powered by AI algorithms. However, the Drive Health Prediction feature is meant to be the primary method of determining which drives are at-risk, while the the Symptom Radar Chart is primarily meant to be a way to explore the root causes of drive problems by characterizing the drive’s health along 5 symptom axes.
Can my drive return to a healthy state after being predicted as at-risk by DA Drive Analyzer's AI?
It is possible for a drive to return to a healthy state after being predicted as at-risk by DA Drive Analyzer’s AI. While we tune the AI to have a low false positive rate, some false positives are still possible -as is the case with any AI algorithm. Additionally, if the drive’s environmental factors, such as the amount of vibration in the drive’s enclosure, change, a drive that was previously in danger may no longer be so.
What should I do if I receive an alert from DA Drive Analyzer?
If you receive an AI-based at-risk prediction from DA Drive Analyzer, we recommend that you back up your data. And if you have mission-critical operations depending on the at-risk drive, we recommend that you have a replacement drive ready in case the drive becomes unusable.
If I receive an alert, how long does my drive have before it fails?
About half of drives labeled at-severe-risk are removed by users by 60 days after initially receiving the label. About half of drives labeled at-moderate risk are removed by the user by 125 days after receiving the label.
